On 29 and 30 October 2025, the inaugural meeting of the Asia Alliance University (AAU) Task Force Team was held in Busan, South Korea. The meeting was chaired by Dr Jekuk Chang, President of Dongseo University, South Korea, and brought together representatives from seven council member universities from six countries and regions, including Macao of China, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, and Malaysia. Wang Lifei, Vice Rector of Macau Millennium College (“MMC”), was invited to attend the meeting and, together with leaders from universities around the world, discussed new directions for cooperation in higher education in Asia in the context of the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

The meeting focused on the theme “Building Pragmatic Cooperation Models for Innovation and Sustainable Development in Higher Education” and engaged in in-depth discussions on several key topics. These included the collaborative development of online and offline educational content, the establishment of a quality assurance (QA) system for teaching content, and the advancement of the Asia Alliance University (AAU) Learning Management System (LMS) and infrastructure development plans.

During the meeting, member representatives reached a consensus to launch a pilot operation by the end of 2025 and officially launch the AAU Smart Learning Platform in the second half of 2026.

AAU aims to create a transnational educational ecosystem that promotes deep integration among Asian universities in areas such as resource sharing, joint curriculum development, scientific research cooperation, and talent cultivation, providing Asian wisdom and solutions for the global digital and intelligent transformation of education.

MMC will actively participate in the construction process of AAU, deepening regional higher education cooperation and innovation, and contributing to the establishment of an internationally influential Asian educational community.
