On 6 and 7 October 2025, a delegation from La Trobe University, a renowned public research university in Australia, led by President Professor Theo Farrell and Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice President (Future Growth) Dr Stacey Farraway, visited Nanbo Education Group. Both parties had in-depth discussions on cooperation projects and academic and research collaboration in Hong Kong. On the morning of 7 October, they officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The Memorandum of Cooperation on the strategic cooperation was signed by Mr Zhou Eryong, Assistant to the Chairman of Nanbo Education Group, and Professor Theo Farrell, President of La Trobe University. Mr Liu Dongfeng, Chair of the Board of the Millennium Association of Education, Supervisor of Macau Millennium College (“MMC”), and Chairman of Nanbo Education Group, attended and witnessed the signing ceremony. The ceremony was chaired by Professor Liang Ruixiong, President of Guangdong University of Technology.

Mr Zhong Weihe, Chancellor of Nanbo Education Group and Rector of MMC, attended the signing ceremony and delivered a speech. In his speech, Zhong Weihe gave an overall introduction to the educational positioning, disciplinary features, and achievements of the four universities under Nanbo Education Group. He elaborated on Nanbo Education Group’s internationalisation and high-quality development philosophy and strategic layout. He also introduced the “Digital Intelligence+”strategic development direction of MMC, expressing the hope that this cooperation framework would promote deep communication and pragmatic cooperation between Chinese and Australian universities in talent cultivation, faculty development, and research collaboration.

La Trobe University, as the fastest-growing university in Oceania according to the QS rankings, chose to cooperate with Nanbo Education Group based on mutual trust and a positive outlook for their future development. This strategic cooperation also marks an important step for Nanbo Education Group in shaping its new layout in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and in building a global development network.
