Recently, the group standard Technical requirements for privacy-preserving digital identity authentication (hereinafter referred to as “the Standard”), organised by the China Association for Promoting International Economic & Technical Cooperation, was officially released. The Standard was jointly drafted by Professor Cai Zhiming, Vice Rector of Macau Millennium College (“MMC”), his team, and teams of experts and scholars from Academician Fang Binxing of Guangzhou University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Xi’an University of Posts and Telecommunications, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, North China University of Technology, and Beijing Tongbiao Zhongyan Standardisation Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd.

MMC has been deeply involved in cross-border digital technology cooperation and standard development efforts. The Standard fully reflects MMC’s academic expertise and professional capabilities in cutting-edge fields such as digital identity authentication, privacy computing, and information security, and showcases the ability of Macao’s higher education institutions to integrate into the national technology governance system and participate in high-level standardisation efforts.
The development of the Standard is the result of cross-regional and multi-institutional collaborative innovation. It not only responds to national legal and regulatory requirements for data security and personal information protection but also provides technical foundations and practical pathways for cross-border digital identity interoperability and mutual recognition of cross-border digital services. MMC will continue to leverage Macao’s advantages as an international platform, promoting more high-level research outcomes to be transformed into socially valuable standards and norms.
