Call for Papers｜The 4th Symposium on Country-Specific Translation and Interpretation Capacity & 1st Forum on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Translation and Interpretation Capacity

 

為積極響應新時代國家對於翻譯能力建設的迫切需求，北京外國語大學國家翻譯能力研究中心至今已連續舉辦了三屆“國家翻譯能力：理論建構與學術探索”研討會。系列研討會不僅匯聚了國家翻譯能力研究共同體，發布了全球國家翻譯能力指數，產出了一系列前瞻性的理論觀點，還達成了廣泛共識，即國家翻譯能力研究需要逐步從理論構建和框架體系驗證，拓展至更具實踐價值的區域乃至國別比較研究，力求以高質量的研究成果精准、有效地服務於發展大局。粵港澳大灣區作為國家戰略的核心區域，在語言服務方面一直處於國內領先地位。其翻譯能力建設不僅關乎區域自身的一體化進程和國際交流合作，更承載著服務國家整體發展戰略的重要使命。因此，大灣區的翻譯能力建設需與國家整體翻譯能力建設同頻共振，共同為實現我國國際傳播戰略和宏遠發展目標貢獻力量。

基於以上背景，北京外國語大學攜手澳門教育及青年發展局、澳門中西創新學院、澳門翻譯員聯合會，擬於2024年9月21—22日在澳門共同舉辦第四屆國家翻譯能力學術研討會暨首屆粵港澳大灣區翻譯能力研究論壇。本次研討會和論壇將秉持開放、包容、創新的國家翻譯能力研究理念，為國內外翻譯學界的專家學者提供一個高水平的學術交流平臺，通過碰撞思想、激蕩智慧，共同推動國別和區域翻譯能力研究取得新突破，為國家特別是粵港澳大灣區的發展貢獻翻譯界的智慧和力量。

本次會議將結合專家主旨報告與分論壇研討，聚焦國家翻譯能力建設、國別/區域翻譯能力比較、AIGC與國家/區域翻譯能力建設、粵港澳大灣區翻譯能力建設現狀與挑戰等重要議題，並發布2023年全球國家翻譯能力指數和中國大學翻譯能力指數。誠邀相關領域的專家學者圍繞會議主題提交論文摘要，分享前沿研究與實踐經驗，共襄學術盛舉。

We are pleased to announce the upcoming 4th Symposium on Country-Specific Translation and Interpretation Capacity & 1st Forum on Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Translation and Interpretation Capacity, which will be held on 21-22 September, 2024 in Macao, China. This conference builds on the legacy of successful gatherings organized by Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) over the past three years, continuing the commitment to advancing translation and interpretation (T&I) research.

The focus of this year’s event will be on fostering innovation and practical applications of T&I capacity research. Participants will engage with critical topics such as capacity building, comparative studies, and the integration of AIGC technologies. The conference will also feature the release of the 2023 World Country-Specific Translation and Interpretation Capacity Index as well as the Chinese University Translation and Interpretation Capacity Index.

We cordially invite experts and researchers from related fields to contribute to this important dialogue by submitting abstracts that address the themes of the conference. Your insights will enrich the discussions and contribute to the shaping of T&I studies in the context of China and beyond.

Topics including but not limited to:

Multi-dimensional analysis of country-/region-specific T&I capacity

Assessment of sector-relevant T&I capacity in country-/region-specific context (e.g. a country’s capacity in audiovisual translation, legal translation/interpretation, medical translation/interpretation, etc.)

Evaluation of T&I capacity of different agents (e.g. an institution, a university, a city, etc.)

T&I capacity in different historical periods

Interplay between a country’s T&I capacity and its soft/hard power

Current issues and challenges in T&I capacity building in the Greater Bay Area

We kindly request the submission of a full abstract, not exceeding 300 words, in either Chinese or English for anonymous review. The abstract should be accompanied by the author’s bio information, including name, professional title, education background, current affiliation, email address, and mobile phone number.

Also, please note: an individual may not serve as the first author for more than one abstract. Registration will only be considered confirmed upon receipt of an email from the organizing committee.

參會費1200元/人，研究生減半（不含在職碩博士生）。

參會代表交通食宿費用自理。會務組可推薦賓館，參會者也可自行預訂賓館。

Registration Fee: 1200 RMB or 160 USD per person; 600 RMB or 80 USD for each postgraduate student (excluding staff postgraduate students)

Participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and meals. Hotel recommendations will be provided by the organizing committee.
