On 2 March 2026, Macau Millennium College (“MMC” or the “College”) held the 2026 Commencement Ceremony at the Taipa Campus, while also hosting a warm birthday celebration for staff members whose birthdays fall in the first quarter of the year. The ceremony was presided over by Assistant Rector Huang Hua.

On behalf of the Millennium Association of Education and the College, Rector Zhong Weihe first extended his best wishes to all faculty and staff for the Chinese New Year, and expressed his sincere appreciation for their hard work over the past year. He reviewed the fruitful achievements the College had obtained in campus expansion, curriculum accreditation, teaching and research, and faculty development in 2025. Looking forward to the Bingwu Year of the Horse, he stressed that, amid the rise of the digital and intelligent era and the ongoing transformation of higher education, the College must remain firmly committed to the path of building a university distinguished by quality and character, and enriched by humanistic care and wellbeing. He noted that, to realise this vision, the College must empower teaching through digital intelligence and nurture minds through the humanities in its talent cultivation, so as to foster a new generation with both ability and a strong sense of purpose. In disciplinary development, it should pursue a path of being small but refined, small but distinctive, and small but strong, while aligning precisely with Macao’s “1+4” economic diversification strategy. In integrating industry and education, it should make full use of platforms such as the MMC Innovation Academy in Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone to promote the commercialisation of research achievements and deepen its integration into the development of the Greater Bay Area.

As part of the ceremony, a traditional roast suckling pig-cutting ritual was also held. Rector Zhong Weihe officiated alongside He Ehua, Chair of the Board of Supervisors of the Millennium Association of Education, Vice Rector Wang Lifei, and Assistant Rector Huang Hua, symbolising flourishing progress for education in the year ahead.

Subsequently, Professor Zhong and He Ehua, on behalf of the Millennium Association of Education and the College, distributed lai see to faculty and staff, filling the venue with a joyful and festive atmosphere. At the close of the ceremony, a birthday celebration was hosted for staff members born between January and March. With everyone singing “Happy Birthday”, the event was filled with warmth and cheer, fully reflecting the caring spirit of the College’s vision of “a university enriched by humanistic care and wellbeing”.
