Frequently Asked Questions for New Student Applications
(Applicable to Macau, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Other Countries/Regions) 

Application Eligibility 

1. What qualifications are required for Macau ID card holders to apply for degree programmes? 

Answer: For Associate Degree/Bachelor’s programmes, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: 
• Completion of Form 6 / Senior Secondary Year 3 / Grade 12 and possession of a graduation certificate. 
• Macau residents aged 23 or above with relevant work experience may be exempted from academic admission requirements but must take an admission test. 
Applicants for Master’s programmes must hold a Bachelor’s degree; applicants for Doctoral programmes must hold a Master’s degree. Please refer to the Admissions Brochure for details. 

 

2. What qualifications are required for Hong Kong/Taiwan ID card holders or overseas passport holders? 

Answer: For Associate Degree/Bachelor’s programmes, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: 
A. Completion of Form 6 / Senior Secondary Year 3 / Grade 12 and possession of a graduation certificate. 
B. Non-Mainland applicants aged 23 or above with relevant work experience may be exempted from academic admission requirements but must take an admission test. 
Applicants for Master’s programmes must hold a Bachelor’s degree; applicants for Doctoral programmes must hold a Master’s degree. Please refer to the Admissions Brochure for details. 

 

3. Can Macau ID card holders who graduated from secondary schools in Mainland China or Hong Kong apply? 

Answer: Yes. 

 

4. Can students holding a Hong Kong temporary identity card (without a Home Return Permit) apply? 

Answer: It depends on the nature of the Hong Kong identity document. Holders with “stay” status are classified as Mainland students and are not eligible. Holders with “residence” status are classified as Hong Kong students and are eligible to apply. 

 

Application Procedures 

5. How do I apply? When is the application period and how is the application fee paid? 

Answer: Applicants may register through the online application system before 10 August 2026 (link). After all application materials and fees are received, the Admissions Office will contact applicants within 7 working days regarding interviews or other arrangements. Applications may also be submitted in person. 

 

6. Besides the application fee, is there any examination fee? 

Answer: No. 

 

Admission Procedures 

7. When and how will I know the admission result? 

Answer: After submission of application materials and payment of the application fee, qualified applicants will be notified as soon as possible. 

 

8. How can I obtain the admission letter and related documents? 

Answer: Applicants may check results via the online application system (link). Admitted students may collect the Admission Letter, Tuition Payment Notice and enrolment materials in person, or download them online. 

 

Enrolment / Registration 

9. Do non-local students need to apply for a Special Authorization to Stay in Macau? 

Answer: Yes. Non-Macau ID holders must complete temporary residence procedures with the Residence and Stay Affairs Department of the Public Security Police Force. Details: https://www.fsm.gov.mo/psp/cht/main.html 

 

10. Can I defer admission for one year? 

Answer: Yes. Students unable to enroll due to health or special reasons should pay required fees and apply before the designated registration date using the Deferment Application Form. 

 

11. Is there a penalty for late payment? 

Answer: Students who fail to pay fees on time must pay a surcharge of MOP/HKD 500. 

 

12. What are the tuition fees, accommodation fees and living expenses? 

Answer: Please refer to the table below. 

* Proposed programmes for AY2026/2027, subject to registration approval and publication in the Macao SAR Gazette. 

Accommodation fee: HKD 2,500 per month (up to 10 months per year). Estimated living expenses: approximately MOP 40,000 per year, depending on personal circumstances.
