To guide young students in learning about the country’s achievements in space development, strengthen their patriotic sentiment, and inspire their enthusiasm for scientific exploration and technological innovation, Macau Millennium College (“MMC”) organised a delegation of teachers and students to visit Macao Science Center on 24 April 2026 to take part in the 2026 “China Space Day” thematic activity. The activity was hosted by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (“DSEDJ”), organised by The Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau, and supported by Macao Science Center, the Chinese Society of Astronautics and Macau University of Science and Technology.

The activity featured a rich programme, including an opening ceremony, the screening of a space-themed film, and a thematic lecture. China’s first space-themed film, The Blue Sky Beyond the Window, was screened at the venue, vividly presenting the dedication of space professionals as they remain true to their mission and pursue their dreams among the stars. Professor Wu Zhigang, founding Dean of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Sun Yat-sen University, then delivered a thematic lecture, offering an in-depth explanation of the operating principles, technological pathways and development prospects of space-based solar power stations. His lecture introduced students to the latest achievements in space science and technology and their broad application potential.

Teachers and students from MMC who took part in the activity said that the immersive space-themed experience enabled them to gain a direct appreciation of the country’s remarkable achievements and technological strength in space development. They also gained a deeper understanding of the strategic significance of “invigorating China through science and education” and “building China into a leading country in science and technology”. The activity not only stimulated their strong interest in scientific exploration, but also strengthened their sense of national pride and mission.

Looking ahead, MMC will continue to respond to the country’s strategic plans for “invigorating China through science and education” and “building China into a leading country in science and technology”, as well as the Macao SAR Government’s arrangements for science popularisation education. MMC will actively organise teachers and students to take part in a wide range of science popularisation and technological innovation activities, with a focus on cultivating students’ logical reasoning, innovative thinking, problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills. It will also guide young students to integrate their personal growth into the country’s overall development and to contribute youthful strength to Macao’s appropriate economic diversification and to the city’s integration into the country’s development.
