Laboratory Introduction

Cognitive Translation Laboratory

Cognitive Translation Laboratory: The Cognitive Translation Laboratory focuses on the human cognitive mechanisms underlying translation activities and bilingual information processing. It serves as an interdisciplinary research platform integrating translation studies, psychology, linguistics, cognitive science, and neuroscience. Drawing on research methods such as eye-tracking, electroencephalography (EEG), behavioural experiments, and corpus analysis, the laboratory systematically examines translators’ attention allocation, cognitive load, decision-making strategies, and brain response patterns during comprehension, transfer, production, and monitoring processes. Its research areas cover written translation, interpreting, bilingual reading, terminology processing, machine translation post-editing, and human–AI collaborative translation. The laboratory aims to reveal the psychological and neural mechanisms involved in translation processes, thereby providing scientific support for translation pedagogy, translator competence assessment, the optimisation of intelligent translation technologies, and the cultivation of language service professionals.

Multilingual Intelligent Computing Laboratory

The Multilingual Intelligent Computing Lab focuses on the interdisciplinary integration of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and multilingual services. Oriented toward application scenarios such as cross-language communication, intelligent translation, corpus analysis, language resource development, and multimodal computing, the lab conducts research on multilingual data processing, machine translation, intelligent question-answering, text mining, and language technology applications. The lab is dedicated to cultivating students’ digital-intelligent language competence, computational thinking, and cross-cultural technology application skills, providing technical support and an innovative practice platform for fields such as language services, educational technology, smart tourism, and cross-border business.

Intelligent Simultaneous Interpretation Lab

The Intelligent Simultaneous Interpretation Lab is equipped with iFLYTEK’s Spark multilingual simultaneous interpretation large model, offering efficient, accurate, and stable multilingual real-time translation and interactive question-answering capabilities, and supporting offline simultaneous interpretation and cross-language interactive applications in Chinese, English, Portuguese, Cantonese, and other languages. The lab focuses on multilingual intelligent translation and cross-cultural communication, specialized terminology translation in vertical domains, and simultaneous interpretation teaching and training, providing important support for language technology research, simultaneous interpretation teaching reform, and the cultivation of talent for digital-intelligent language services.
