I. Programme Positioning

The Doctor of Education in Digital and Intelligent Teacher Education responds to the digital and intelligent transformation of teacher education. Grounded in theories of teacher education, the programme integrates artificial intelligence applications, educational leadership, digital and intelligent educational assessment, and advanced quantitative and qualitative research methods. Through academic projects and doctoral thesis research, it strengthens students’ capacity for original research and cultivates high-level teacher education professionals equipped with digital and intelligent literacy, pedagogical innovation competence, educational research capabilities, and an international perspective.

II. Programme Objectives

The programme aims to enhance students’ digital and intelligent literacy through a progressive developmental pathway from technological awareness to integrated application, critical reflection, and innovation leadership. It places particular emphasis on strengthening human–AI collaboration, enabling students to examine and harness artificial intelligence from the perspective of the ontological foundations of education and to achieve a profound integration of technological rationality and educational values.

Through the programme, students will develop progressively advanced capabilities in understanding, applying, and critically evaluating artificial intelligence. They will be able to apply AI technologies effectively to key areas, including the transformation of teaching paradigms, the reshaping of learning approaches, the evidence-based transformation of educational research, the optimisation of governance and decision-making, the reconstruction of digital and intelligent educational assessment, and the innovation of educational models. The programme seeks to cultivate high-level interdisciplinary professionals with advanced digital literacy, a solid foundation in education, strong transformational leadership, innovative interdisciplinary application capabilities, and rigorous empirical research competence.

III. Admission Requirements

1.Applicants must hold a master’s degree. Preference will be given to applicants with an academic background in a relevant discipline or professional field.

2.All applicants are required to take the entrance examination organised by Macau Millennium College. Admission will be granted on a competitive basis.

Master of Education in Digital and Intelligent Teacher Education

It is primarily designed for teachers, school administrators, researchers in teaching and research institutions, curriculum developers in education enterprises, as well as undergraduate graduates with a strong commitment to education and development potential. The programme aims to cultivate applied and innovative professionals capable of leading and adapting to intelligent and digital transformation in education.

As a master’s programme that integrates multiple disciplines and places equal emphasis on theoretical learning and skills training, this course focuses on the core competencies of digital and intelligent literacy. It establishes a four-stage progressive framework for competency development: understanding technology, applying it in educational scenarios, evaluating its effectiveness, and pursuing iterative improvement. The programme is committed to bridging the gap between technology and education, guiding students to critically and dialectically understand the role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in real educational contexts.

It also strengthens students’ ability to flexibly use digital tools in areas such as curriculum design, classroom teaching, student assessment, teaching and research collaboration, class management, and school–family communication. Through a modular curriculum system and project-based practical components, the programme seeks to develop a cohort of digital-intelligent education practitioners who understand technology, can apply it effectively, reflect critically, and innovate creatively. It focuses on strengthening students’ understanding, application, and practical capabilities in the deep integration of artificial intelligence, data technologies, and educational contexts. In doing so, it enables them to effectively respond to new challenges in teaching while upholding educational principles and the core values of student development.

Through systematic study, students will gradually develop a comprehensive understanding of artificial intelligence and the digital-intelligent development of education. They will acquire core competencies in instructional design supported by intelligent tools, learning support, educational assessment, research analysis, and the optimisation of educational management. The programme also aims to enhance students’ professional capacity to identify, analyse, and solve problems using digital-intelligent technologies in complex educational settings.

At the same time, the programme places strong emphasis on cultivating students’ capacity for educational innovation, awareness of research standards, and ability to reflect on practice.
