On 10 March 2026, the 2026 General Assembly of the Macao International Language Service Society (the “Society”) was successfully held at the Taipa Campus of Macau Millennium College (“MMC”). The meeting was chaired by Professor Zhong Weihe, President of the Society and Rector of MMC. Members of the Society, together with members of the Board of Directors, gathered to review the Society’s achievements over the past year and look ahead to its future development.

The meeting began by reviewing and approving the agenda for the General Assembly. Professor Wang Lifei, Vice President of the Society and Vice Rector of MMC, then presented, on behalf of the Board of Directors, the Board’s 2025 Work Report and its 2026 Work Plan. The report offered a comprehensive review of the work carried out and the results achieved over the past year in such areas as language service research, academic exchange, talent development and social service. It also noted that, in the year ahead, the Society would continue to advance academic research and industry exchange in the field of language services, strengthen cooperation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and internationally, and promote talent development and the building of academic platforms in language services. This was followed by the 2025 financial report of the Board of Directors, delivered by the Society’s Secretary-General, Associate Professor Yang Yanchao of MMC’s Institute of International Language Services Studies. He gave members a detailed account of the Society’s annual income and expenditure, together with the use of its funds. In terms of supervision, Professor Li Defeng, Chair of the Board of Supervisors and a professor in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Macau, presented the 2025 Work report of the Board of Supervisors on its behalf. The report reviewed the Board of Directors’ work and financial management over the past year from a supervisory perspective and concluded that the Society’s work had been carried out in a well-regulated and orderly manner. The meeting also reviewed proposed amendments to the Charter of the Macao International Language Service Society and discussed the relevant amendments. After the General Assembly, the Society convened a meeting of its Board of Directors. The meeting focused on matters relating to member development, reviewed new member applications, and approved the admission of 33 experts, scholars and industry professionals from Macao, Guangdong, Beijing, Shaanxi, Anhui and Jiangxi, further strengthening the Society’s professional base.

The successful convening of the General Assembly not only provided a comprehensive review of the Society’s achievements over the past year, but also helped build consensus and clarify priorities for its future development. Upholding its commitment to openness and collaboration, the Society will continue to deepen academic exchange and industry cooperation, advance innovation in language service research and talent development, and contribute further to the development of language services in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and beyond.
