In his speech, Hua Zifeng stated that the special section, “The Window on Chinese Culture”, published weekly in Portugal’s Jornal de Notícias, fully showcases the positive outcomes of media cooperation between China and Portugal, and reflects the continued deepening of exchange and mutual learning between different civilizations. He noted that Macao, as a crossroads of Chinese and Western cultures, has long played an irreplaceable role in promoting exchange and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. Media cooperation platforms and cultural exchange programs not only help deepen mutual understanding and ties but also further promote dialogue between civilizations, as well as cultural integration, and people-to-people connectivity. Macao is a city rich in history and culture, with a distinctive cultural charm that makes it prominent on the global stage.

“The Window on Chinese Culture” exhibition is organised into six sections: “25 Years of Macao’s Return to China”, “Macao Historic Centre (20 Years as a World Heritage Site)”, “Festivals and Traditional Culture”, “Architecture and Landscapes”, “Arts and Intangible Cultural Heritage”, and “Culinary Culture”. Together, they vividly showcase Macao’s unique fusion of Chinese and Western cultures and highlight the city’s achievements in cultural development and urban growth since its return. The exhibition gives the Portuguese public an in-depth appreciation of China’s rich cultural heritage and Macao’s vibrant multicultural identity, further fostering cultural exchange and friendly ties between the two regions.
