A Delegation Led by Shen Minghao, Vice President of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Visits Macau Millennium College

On 16 June 2026, a delegation led by Shen Minghao, Vice President of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (“GDUFS”), visited Macau Millennium College (“MMC” or the “College”) and was warmly received by Professor Zhong Weihe, Rector of MMC. The two parties held a symposium to discuss topics including the development of the Guangdong-Macao Portuguese-speaking Talent Development Base, cooperation in the internationalisation of education, multilingual talent development, and future collaborative development. During the symposium, both sides reviewed the progress of their cooperation since the signing of the Agreement on the Joint Development of the Guangdong-Macao Portuguese-speaking Talent Development Base. The base aims to draw fully on Macao’s unique strengths in Portuguese-language culture and exchanges between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, combining GDUFS’s rich resources in Portuguese-language education with MMC’s foundation in international language services to jointly advance the cultivation of Portuguese-language talent in Guangdong and Macao.

Professor Zhong Weihe welcomed Professor Shen Minghao and his delegation and expressed gratitude to GDUFS for its long-standing care and support for the development of MMC. He stated that, based in Macao, oriented towards the Greater Bay Area, and connected with Portuguese-speaking and Spanish-speaking countries, MMC actively serves Macao’s “One Platform, One Base, and One Centre” development positioning. The College hopes to continue deepening cooperation with GDUFS in the internationalisation of education, and to further expand collaboration in areas such as the development of international exchange platforms, the joint development of Portuguese- and Spanish-related courses and programmes, faculty and student visits, and joint talent development. Together, the two institutions aim to cultivate high-calibre talent with Chinese-Western cross-cultural literacy, an international outlook, and competitiveness in the digital and intelligent era.

Professor Shen Minghao stated that GDUFS attaches great importance to its cooperation with MMC, noting that the two institutions share a solid foundation for collaboration in language education, international exchange, region and country studies, and the development of the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform. He pointed out that GDUFS will continue to leverage its strengths in foreign language disciplines, internationalised schooling, and talent cultivation to support both parties in achieving more practical results in the development of the Guangdong-Macao Portuguese-speaking Talent Development Base, cooperation in the internationalisation of education, and multilingual talent development.

The two sides also conducted in-depth discussions and reached a consensus on improving cooperation mechanisms, sharing high-quality resources, co-developing specialised courses, and advancing international projects. Looking ahead, the two institutions will leverage the development of the Guangdong-Macao Portuguese-speaking Talent Development Base as a key driver. By fully utilising their respective strengths in language education, cross-cultural exchange, and international cooperation, they aim to achieve further milestones in multilingual talent cultivation and the internationalisation of education.

Other attendees at the meeting included Xu Yiqing, Deputy Head of the International Office at GDUFS; Wang Lifei, Vice Rector of MMC; Wei Qiu, Director of the Rector’s Office; and Yang Yanchao, Deputy Director of the Department of Digital and Intelligent Humanities.
