MMC Teachers and Students Attend the “Safe Travel in Macao: Promoting Consular Protection Together” Promotional Activity

On 12 April 2026, the promotional activity “Safe Travel in Macao: Promoting Consular Protection Together”, jointly hosted by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in Macao Special Administrative Region, the Macao Government Tourism Office and the Identification Services Bureau, and co-organised by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (“DSEDJ”), the Judiciary Police and the Public Security Police Force, was successfully held on the main stage of Hall A at Cotai Expo, The Venetian Macao. Huang Hua, Assistant Rector of Macau Millennium College (“MMC”), together with teacher and student representatives, attended the activity.

Under the theme of “Promoting consular protection and strengthening the safety line of defence”, the activity focused on the overseas travel safety needs of teachers, students and members of the public. Through thematic sharing, interactive exchanges and themed video screenings, it systematically introduced the core elements of consular protection, safety guidelines for overseas travel, and emergency response procedures. During the activity, representatives of the hosting and co-organising bodies provided professional explanations on key topics such as consular protection services, replacement of lost travel documents overseas, immigration and border-crossing safety management, prevention of overseas fraud risks, and support for Macao young people studying abroad. They also engaged in in-depth interaction with participants and answered their questions with precision, helping safety knowledge to be better understood, internalised and put into practice.

A promotional video on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ global consular protection and services emergency hotline was also screened at the venue, vividly demonstrating the country’s protection of the rights and interests of citizens overseas, as well as its people-centred care. At the same time, an award ceremony was held for the Pilot Training Programme for Young Ambassadors of Consular Protection, calling on young people to actively disseminate knowledge of consular protection and promote safety awareness across campuses and communities.

During the activity, MMC teachers and students listened attentively and took part actively in the exchanges, gaining a comprehensive understanding of risk identification during overseas travel, emergency assistance channels and self-protection skills. Student representatives said that the activity was closely aligned with real-life needs, highly targeted and practical. It effectively addressed gaps in their knowledge of overseas travel and study safety, and significantly strengthened their awareness of risk prevention and their ability to respond to emergencies.

MMC attaches great importance to safeguarding students’ safety during overseas exchanges, internships and travel. It works closely with relevant departments of the Macao SAR Government to carry out regular safety promotion and thematic education. Looking ahead, MMC will continue to draw on various resource platforms to deepen safety and risk-prevention education for teachers and students, guide students to develop a strong awareness of civilised and safe travel, and provide solid support for their overseas study, exchange and daily life.
